Motivating and Engaging Your Team for Results

I had the privilege of speaking at a local organization last week on the 10 Strategies to Motivate and Engage your Team for Results. A lot of organizations and teams are experiencing lack of employee engagement, productivity and initiative, resulting in high turnover rates and loss of profits. The fault is not solely on the team members but more on the leadership of the organization. What can you do as a leader to influence your team better? What can you do as an individual contributor to influence those you work with for better results?

Here are some interesting statistics via Access Loyalty Blog:

  • The main factor in workplace discontent is not wages, benefits or hours, but the boss (Gallup)

  • 28% of employees would rather have a better boss than a $5,000 raise (Randstad)

  • 36% of employees would give up $5,000 a year in salary to be happier at work (Randstad)

  • HR professionals' most important issue in 2015: culture and engagement (Deloitte)

Highly engaged employees are:

  • 2.5 times more likely to stay at work late if something needs to be done after the normal workday ends

  • More than twice as likely to help someone at work even if they don’t ask for help

  • More than three times as likely to do something good for the company or team, that is not expected of them
